Laxmi, who is a former constituent assembly member, said the villagers are not able to enter their homes to collect essential goods, food items and clothes, among others. This has made life miserable for the locals, said Laxmi.While the villagers have been left terror-stricken, Nepal Army (NA) personnel have been carrying out recovery operation. NA men on Monday alone had recovered Chandra Maya Sunuwar's body from her house at Duragau-8. They also recovered food items, clothes and Rs 95,556 in cash, among others.
According to Krishna Shrestha, who led the rescue team, NA recovered the body and cash based on the information provided by daughter of the deceased. Three members of a single family, including Sunuwar, were killed in the earthquake.
Similarly, NA also recovered some cash and essential materials from the house Tulishi Manjari Poudel and Karna Maya Thapa, among others. NA personnel have also reached other villages to carry out the recovery operation.
According to NA command officials, the NA has carried out recovery operation in Ramechhap Danda, Manthali, Doramba Danda, Duragau, Betali, Himganga, and Bhirpani among other villages. They are also distributing relief to quake victims in the village. Chief District Officer Shambhu Prasad Marasini said the operation will be carried out in all the affected villages.
