General Amazing is a football-focused corporate social development program of Qatar's Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, which holds the authority for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Monday, MYA and MercyCorps informed that the event will focus on engaging youths in sports and other activities to build their leadership through football. At the same time, the event will also build linkage and provide platform for sharing experiences from General Amazing field activities.
The organizers are expecting nearly 500 participants, including General Amazing ambassadors, coaches, parents, teachers, youth club members, district football associations, youths and children from Bhaktapur, Kaski, Makwanpur and Kailali.
"The participants will discuss and share experiences focusing on football and youth development during the event. We are mainly focusing on encouraging girls," said Nabin Lamichhane of MercyCorps.
Lamichhane also informed that various extra-curricular activities, including quiz contest, drawing, art and essay competitions, skill shows, football tournament and rally will be organized.
Meanwhile, MYA President Upendra Man Singh, who is a former national goalkeeper, said that MYA has signed a six-month contract with MercyCorps as they share similar interests.
"We have been able to organize various program with the financial support from MercyCorps," said Singh.
They will also conduct training for football coaches from various districts by bringing international coaches.
