Earlier, the party had sacked Yadav as acting chairman and asked Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai to remove Yadav from the cabinet. The party had also stated that it no longer supported the government. [break]
Speaking at a program in Reporters Club Nepal in the capital, Datta also accused the PM of showing double standards, reminiscing that he had earlier been sacked as agriculture minister acting on the recommendation of Yadav, who was then acting party chief, and that the PM was not paying heed to the party’s official decision this time.
Datta also revealed that his party had recently held talks with other Madhesi leaders, including MPRF-D chairman and Deputy PM Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, TMDP Chairman Mahantha Thakur and Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato, with regard to removing Yadav as minister.
“We waited till now as were advised during our talks with them,” Datta said, adding that the party even has a letter from JP Gupta, chairman of MPRF-R, who has been serving a jail term after being convicted on graft charges.
