Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Madhav Nepal said Loniya was at large after shooting at police personnel Hari Bahadur Bohora at a police check post in Nepalganj-16 on October 13. Police has recovered a country made pistol and two rounds of bullets from the spot.

Acting chief of the District Police Office Surya Bahadur KC said that Loniya was charged with attempted murder, illegal possession of arms and kidnappings.

Lonia has been accused of involvement in the abduction of Santosh Sahu of Karkado VDC-1 on October 4.

Police has also traced Lonia´s involvement in abduction of Bhupendra Singh of Harminiya-6 on April 19, according to KC. Similarly, he has also been accused of planting a bomb in the house of Ayodhya Prasad Lonia of Belhari-7.

Meanwhile, Murari Prasad Kharel, regional director of National Human Rights Commission, said they would investigate charges against Lonia.

“We will also investigate if Loniya was deliberately shot instead of being arrested alive,” Kharel said. Police has handed over Lonia´s body to his relatives for final rites after conducting autopsy.
