ACAP Chief Dr Rabin Kadariya said that the number of visitors in the review month was less by 185 compared to the corresponding period of last year. He said that the arrival of Indian tourists decreased due to the Gen-Z protest held in early September and weather disruptions.

Kadariya noted that September, October and November are considered the peak tourist season.

He mentioned that tourist arrivals in the Annapurna region are expected to increase further in the month of Kartik (mid-October to mid-November). The Project Chief Kadariya stated that following the Tihar festival, the number of domestic tourists visiting the Annapurna region has increased in Mustang and surrounding areas.

“Foreign tourists visit this area for trekking during this season. Last year during this season, 33,310 foreign tourists visited the Annapurna region,” he said.

The Annapurna Conservation Area, which spreads over 7,600 square kilometres, covers 87 wards across 15 local units in Kaski, Lamjung, Manang, Myagdi, and Mustang districts. The Annapurna region is renowned in the world for trekking.
