The programs include an ambitious target of establishing at least one industrial estate spread over 1,000 bigha in all federal states.
Speaking at a press meet on Thursday, Pandey said they will start identifying locations and acquiring land for the purpose for soon. “As it is difficult for investors to find land plots for large industries, I have unveiled plan to set up industrial estates spread over large areas,” said Pandey.
MoI plans to start land acquisition work in Damak of Jhapa, Motipur of Rupandehi, Daiji of Kanchanpur and Kaski district for the purpose.
Likewise, Pandey has also floated plan to reviving ailing state-run industries including Nepal Drugs Limited, Birgunj Sugar Mills and Butwal Spinning Mill. Pandey also said he was against privatization of state-run companies. “We will upgrade capacity of state-owned industries. We will inject funds if they are in need of more investment,” he said, adding that it is important for the country to have industries like Nepal Drugs Limited.
Pandey also said the ministry will begin petroleum exploration in Morang and Nepalgunj, and utilize natural gas deposits identified in Lalitpur, Kathmandu and Dailekh.
