MoFA objects to Blake's meeting with Tibetan refugees

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: The foreign ministry has lodged a “solemn representations” with US embassy over a meeting of visiting US Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert O. Blake with members of the Tibetan community without its prior information.



During a meeting with Deputy Chief of Mission at US Embassy in Kathmandu Patricia A Mahoney on Friday, Joint Secretary Arjun Bahadur Thapa, who also heads the Europe and America Division MoFA, lodged the “solemn representations” over Blake´s meeting with members of exiled Tibetan community and Chief of Army Staff Gaurav SJB Rana without informing MoFA.[break]



"I am convinced that the US has understood diplomatic code of conduct and practices in the context of Nepal," said Thapa, who is the spokesperson for MoFA.



On the occasion, Thapa had also handed over Nepal´s statement of condemnation against the terrorist attack on US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya that claimed the lives of US envoy to Libya Chirs Stevens and three other US diplomats on Wednesday.
