KATHMANDU, Oct. 18: The Ministry of Finance (MOF) is in dilemma over where to allocate the amount of the Social Security Fund.

According to Under Secretary of the Ministry Shantaraj Subedi, the fund was not allocated as other ministries did not send the proposals of new projects.[break]

He said a total of Rs. 1.42 billion has been deposited in the Social Security Fund so far. The government has been collecting one per cent tax for the fund from government employees and other sources.

"We have no difficulty to allocate budget if any proposals for the projects are received," said Under-Secretary Subedi.

The National Planning Commission (NPC) has been urging the Ministry of Finance to make arrangements for effective use to the tax payers concerned.

Vice-chairman of the Commission Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri said the Commission has been urging the ministry to make arrangements for the effective use of the fund, but asked why it is not used.
