POKHARA, Oct 31: A 60-year-old tourist from Belgium was injured during a minor paragliding accident in Pokhara on Saturday. The tourist identified as Mimi was injured while paragliding with Gerri from Bulgaria as the driver due to bad weather at Sarangkot.

The rider had landed on a tree as soon as they had hunches of being in an accident. According to the Blue Sky Company´s rider Babu Sunuwar, bigger accident was prevented due to the wisdom of the experienced driver.

“The accident occurred because the other passenger did not run along with the driver and did not follow the instructions,” says coordinator of Blue Sky Company, Narayan Parajuli. According to him, because paragliding is for entertainment, accidents like these occur rarely. He says, “This requires team work, which lacked this time. This is the main cause of the accident.” One or two such accidents are reported every year.

Pokhara is well-known for paragliding worldwide and hundreds of tourists come here for the adventure sports. Pokhara has over half a dozen of paragliding companies.
