KATHMANDU, March 9:  Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation and Chairman of Samajwadi Janata Party Prem Bahadur Singh on Wednesday warned that he will move court against Election Commission (EC) for scrapping registration of his party.

At an interaction at Reporters’ Club, minister Singh said, “The Article 270 of the constitution clearly states that any political party won’t be banned. I will file a case against EC at Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday.”

He claimed that EC annulled registration of his party to set a precedent for banning political parties, adding that he will fight a legal battle against it.

EC on Monday had scrapped the registration of 15 various political parties, including the party of minister Singh, for failing for three consecutive years to furnish reports on their incomes and expenditures.
