Ironically, a group of journalists staging sit-in at Chhatachowk of Dharan was demanding action against press freedom predator Parsuram Basnet involved in the attack on journalist Khilanath Dahakal while Minister Bista was making such commitment.

Minister Basnet expressed confidence that Parsuram Basnet accused of assaulting journalist Dhakal will come under legal action soon as the government will not budge from its responsibility of protecting free press.

In another note, he claimed that new constitution has not been promulgated on time because some political parties of the country are not in favour of constitution. But he did not divulge who such political parties are.

Urging all to not cast doubt regarding the promulgation of new constitution though it may be late, Minister Bista said the government is making exercise to deliver constitution to country and people by all means. ‘The government has focused its efforts to accomplish army integration process by reaching peace process to a logical conclusion’, he clarified.

The incumbent government will unveil budget if consensus reached among political parties, he asserted, adding that peace and constitution related works will also be accomplished under the leadership of this government.

Chairperson of Youth Association Dharan Paras Kangmang presided over the convention.
