KATHMANDU, July 26: Milk producers as well as cooperatives and agriculture farms of Kanchanpur district have been affected due to the delay in payments by the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) since the past eight months.
According to the milk producers, the state-owned DDC has not paid for the milk purchased from seven cooperatives and 34 agricultural farms in Kanchanpur since mid-November 2024. The DDC owes outstanding dues of Rs 60 million. Of the amount, Small Farmers Cooperative has not received Rs 2.95 million, the largest of all.

Niranjan Bhattarai, head of the DDC Dhangadhi Milk Distribution Project, admitted that the DDC is yet to clear the dues to seven cooperatives and 34 agricultural farms in the district. Bhattarai said the payment has been delayed because of the excess milk produced during six months starting from mid-November.
“While we paid Rs 33.70 million last month, the remaining Rs 60 million will also be paid soon,” said Bhattarai, adding that the DDC collects an average of 2,500-4,000 liters of milk from Kanchanpur district every month.
