DADELDHURA, Dec 22: The UCPN (Maoist)-affiliated students on Tuesday seized two guesthouses of the Dadeldhura District Development Committee. The students associted with the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) hoisted party flags on the buildings and declared the seizure.

The students said they seized the guesthouses because the buildings were misused by Nepali Congress´ Nepal Students Unions as a liaison office. “We will keep the guesthouses under our control until the Nepal Students´ Union office is removed," said Om Prakash Saud, ANNISU-R chairman of Dadeldhura.

Students of the Education Campus have been living in the DDC guesthouses of late.

“The Maoist students vandalized the doors and windows of the guesthouses while seizing the buildings," said Tej Bahadur Khatri, a student residing in the guesthouse.

In 2064, the local leaders of various parties agreed to provide the guesthouses for the students of the Education Campus for use as hostels.

The Maoist students have also demanded that the guesthouses be used for hostel purpose only and not as liaison office.

Each guesthouse has 20 rooms.
