KATHMANDU, Aug 22: Police arrested a man with six fake pistols after receiving a tip-off about the sale and distribution of realistic-looking imitation weapons.
A team from the Janasewa Police Circle conducted a raid around 12:30 pm on August 21 at The Toy Store Enterprises, located on the fifth floor of Civil Mall in Sundhara, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-11. The store, registered under Santoshi Shrestha of Neelkantha Municipality-3, Dhading, and currently residing in Basundhara, is reportedly operated by Prakash Shrestha.

During the search, police seized six metallic pistols that appeared real. Among them, one Chinese Model 77 pistol weighed 675.21 grams, and five Beretta pistols marked “Made in Germany” weighed 615.13 grams each.
Police also detained 31-year-old Suraj Magar from Kalanki, Kathmandu (originally from Roshi Rural Municipality-3, Kavre), for obstructing police and exhibiting abusive behavior. His detention has been extended in connection with charges of misconduct.
Authorities noted that such weapons have previously been used in thefts, robberies, and looting across the Kathmandu Valley. This operation aims to curb the sale, distribution, and use of fake weapons. Further investigation into the seized pistols and the arrested individual is ongoing.
