Mahoney, Paudel discuss peace, statute

KATHMANDU, March 14: Leader of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party Ram Chandra Paudel and Charge d´Affaires at the U.S. Embassy, Kathmandu, Patricia A. Mahoney had a meeting at the former´s residence at Boharatar on Wednesday morning.



In the meeting, the U.S. Charge d´Affaires expressed concern whether or not the peace process would move forward in a concrete manner and whether that would impact the constitution-writing, leader Paudel told media persons after the meeting.[break]



He said during the meeting they discussed the peace process, constitution-writing and state restructuring as well as contemporary political topics.



In the meeting, leader Paudel expressed that although the kind of proposal on the army integration Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai presented in the Special Committee meeting on Tuesday has not given the positive signal or generated the enthusiasm, efforts are on among the political parties to move ahead through compromise and consensus.
