The organizers have claimed it to be the tournament with the highest cash prize in the individual event of the chess which carries a total cash prize of Rs 160,000.
Organizing a press conference Sunday, DNYF President Ajambar Rai Kangmang said the tournament will be held under four different categories -- open, unrated, U-19 and women´s championship.
The matches will be held until the 10th round in the Swiss League System under the technical assistance of Nepal Chess Association. Organizers say over 150 players from across the country will be participating in the tournament. The participants from outside the capital would also get daily allowances.
The top ten players in the rated category will receive cash prizes of Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 7,500, Rs 6,000, Rs 5,000, Rs 4,000, Rs 3,000, Rs 2,500 and Rs 2000, respectively. The players securing 11th to 15th position will bag Rs 1,500 each and Rs 1,000 each will be provided to 16th to 20th ranking players.
The winner, first runner-up and the second runner-up in the unrated category will receive Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,500, respectively.
The winner and the runner up each in U-19 category and women´s category will get Rs 2,000 and 1,000 respectively.
The expected expenses for the tournament is Rs 600,000.
