“It is fun to be here and as a coach I am looking for a new challenge,” said the Swedish coach. “I know a little about Nepali football. I have seen the Nepali national team during 11th SAFF Championship in New Delhi, India.”

Recently Kalin was the football education coordinator of Norbottens, one of the 24 districts of Swedish Football Federation and the Swedish third tier club Notvikens IK.

Kalin spent a few weeks in India in 2011 as the training observer of Indian second division club Simla Youngs and I-League side Sporting Club de Goa in 2012 season.

Kalin arrived in Nepal at the initiative of Machhindra FC Vice President Biplav Gautam who has previously served as the development director of Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Stating the reason behind choosing the Swedish as the head coach of his team, Gautam said, “We tried to get the best coach for our club. But we believe Kalin could be best among other available coaches.”

“Besides this, Kalin could adjust in Nepal better than any other foreigner coach, as he has been to other South Asian counties as well,” shared Gautam.

Machhidnra that finished sixth during the Super Eight rounds of Martyrs Memorial League and third in the initial round of league has come up with some of the innovative ideas of marketing and merchandising in the current season.

According to Gautam, proper training for the club will begin from Monday. The team on Thursday held open trial at the Labaratory ground, Kirtipur. The trial was attended by 67 players. The club already has 18 players in the squad and is in the process of signing two Pakistani international players. The estimated budget for the season is Rs 7 million.
