The CC chairman, a day earlier, had called the meeting to discuss ways to deal with the predicament that has emerged, with the CC now poised to miss the January 29 deadline to prepare the first integrated draft of the new constitution. [break]
As per a schedule agreed earlier, any contentious issue of constitution writing that the CC fails to sort out within the time-frame will have to be settled through full-house Constituent Assembly voting
Among others, Speaker Subash Nembang, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, NC Parliamentary Party leader Chandra Paudel and chief whips all all the three parties were present in the meeting.
Now a second round of the meeting on the issues will held with Madhes-based parties and other fringe parties represented in the CA, NC leader Ram Chandra Paudel told reporters after the meeting, before the top top leaders of the three major parties sit for talks again at 5 pm today.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Maoist Chairman Dahal said the meeting discussed ways to move ahead in the current situation.
He also said they have not reached any concrete conclusion on whether or not to take the disputed statute issues to CA or resolve them following some other alternative course of action.
"We will be able to say what exactly we will do next , most probably by tomorrow (Sunday) morning," Dahal added.
Madhesi leaders stress on consensus
Meanwhile, leaders of Madhes-based parties during the second round of the meeting have suggested that the major political parties split their differences and move ahead consensually to ensure early promulgation of the new statute.
According to Mahantha Thakur, Chairman of the Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party, the Madhesi leaders expressed their view that it is no use working out another work schedule for constitution writing.
They also said the idea of taking the disputed issues to CA for settlement will not yield any result, arguing that the proposals in the CA are not likely to get the required vote for endorsement.
