KATHMANDU, June 21: Lawmaker Ek Nath Dhakal has addressed the Second Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) at the Italian Parliament under the theme “Strengthening Trust and Embracing Hope for Our Common Future.”
In his address, Dhakal underscored the urgent need to confront the challenges facing humanity and called for collective efforts to build a more peaceful and hopeful future. He emphasized the vital role of parliamentarians and faith leaders in promoting cooperation, upholding moral and ethical values, and fostering harmony amid diversity.

Representing the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) as its Secretary General, Dhakal expressed strong support for the IPU’s initiative and reaffirmed ISC’s commitment to religious freedom and democratic principles. Dhakal currently serves as a member of the International Relations Committee of Nepal’s House of Representatives.
On the sidelines of the event, Dhakal held meetings with IPU President Tulia Ackson, Secretary General Martin Chungong, and parliamentary leaders from Bahrain, the UAE, Chile, Zimbabwe, Eswatini, and others.
The conference, jointly hosted by the IPU, the Italian Parliament, and Religions for Peace, brought together Speakers and members of parliament, religious leaders, UN officials, civil society representatives, and academics. It provided a timely platform for global dialogue and cross-sector collaboration across faith, politics, and culture.
