Kush Prasad is the leading scorer of the tournament as he had earlier scored a hat-trick in the first match for Kist Bank. Altogether eight elephant calves are trained to play football and they are selected through draws to play the matches for the four competing teams.
In the 300 meter elephant race, defending champion Champa Kali -- who is sponsored by Hotel Barahi -- entered the final on Tuesday. Champa Kali clocked 1 minute 18.58 seconds to cover the distance.
Champa Kali will have a tough fight in the final as Bahadur Gaj of News 24 clocked 1 minute 17.72 seconds to complete the race.
Along with these two elephants, Bambooz Kali of Trek Nepal, Poonam Kali of Agni Incorporate, Lucky Kali of Covelanger Beer and Basanti Kali of The Explore Nepal also advanced into the final.
In the 150 meters bullock cart race, Laxman Shrestha secured a final spot. Shrestha clocked 23.56 seconds to complete the race. Shrestha will be challenged by Maila Tamang who clocked 24.25 seconds. Zamun Mahato, Khasa Mahato, Barhaniya Mahato and Kanna Mahato also entered the final of the event.
In the 300 meter cart race, defending champion Hero Pawe advanced into the final with a timing of 52.44 seconds. Subash Chaudhary, Jitna Chaudhary, Rajan Neupane, Sikhwa Chaudhary and Birjan Majhi will also compete in the final.
Meanwhile, the first round of elephants´ beauty contest also concluded on Tuesday. Altogether six elephants are participating in the beauty contest. Champa Kali is the title holder of the event. She had finished ahead of Dhirendra Kali and Basanta Kali in the last edition.
The organizers have introduced 100 meters men´s race this year. Khem Raj Chaudhary, Prakash Chaudhary and Jana Ram Chaudhary finished first, second and third respectively. The finals of all the events will be held on Wednesday.
