POKHARA, Dec 14: The construction of the medical building at Pokhara Health Science Institute in Kaski has remained incomplete even after five years. Despite a contract signed in February 2021 to complete the building within 20 months, only 51 percent of physical progress has been achieved, and the third extended deadline ended in August 2025.
The building, being constructed under the Federal Urban Building Office, Ministry of Urban Development, is estimated to cost Rs 105.5 million (excluding tax).

Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising inspected the site on Sunday and discussed the construction schedule and progress with the office chief, the institute’s vice-chancellor, and the contractor.
Expressing frustration over delays in such a sensitive public health facility, Ghising warned that the contract would be terminated and a new process initiated if work does not pick up within a week. Vice-Chancellor Bharat Khatri also emphasized that the building’s delay is affecting healthcare services, urging immediate construction or termination of the current contract to start a new process.
