KATHMANDU, Feb 27: Kathmandu University (KU) officials have urged the Vice-Chancellor Search and Recommendation Committee to expedite the process of recommending candidates for the Vice-Chancellor position at KU.
As many as 13 senior university officials jointly sent a letter to the committee on Wednesday, emphasizing the need to finalize the recommendation process promptly. They argued that the delay has raised concerns about the committee's efficiency and impartiality, stressing the importance of concluding the process as soon as possible. As per the guidelines, the names of three candidates will be recommended to the Chancellor.

The joint letter addressed reports suggesting that the evaluation of candidates’ presentations and interviews was manipulated, and new, seemingly biased conditions were introduced mid-process, causing confusion among committee members. “We are hopeful that these reports will be proven wrong and that the names of the three candidates will be recommended promptly, based on the criteria approved by the committee,” the letter stated.
The appeal was signed by prominent KU officials, including Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED) Dean Prof. Dr. Bal Chandra Luintel, Associate Deans Prof. Dr. Prakash Chandra Bhattarai and Prof. Dr. Hem Raj Kafle, Acting Dean of the KU School of Arts Associate Professor Ekku Maya Pun, and Associate Dean Dr. Uddhav Pyakurel.
Other signatories included Dean of the School of Management Prof. Dr. Bijay KC, Associate Dean Dr. Khagendra Acharya, KU School of Medical Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Manoj Humagain, Acting Dean of the KU School of Science Prof. Dr. Ujjwal Man Joshi, Dean of the KU School of Law Prof. Dr. Rishikesh Wagle, and Associate Deans from the KU School of Engineering Dr. Shyam Sundar Khadka and Prof. Dr. Balkrishna Bal.
