NCM defeated KU by five wickets on Thursday at the KU Ground, Dhulikhel to reach the semifinal as the winner of the group B of the tournament. [break]
NCM won all the three group stage matches, while KU became runner-up in the group with two wins and a loss.
KU elected to bat and put up 136/7 in 20 overs, as Umesh Badu scored 52 runs off 43 balls and Krishna Bista added 38 runs off 34 balls. Ashish Ghimire claimed three wickets for NCM, while Bishal Shrestha took two wickets. Chasing the 137-run target, NCM reached 138/5 in 17.3 overs.
Prabin Agrawal scored 34 runs off 21 balls, while Pratik Agrawal contributed 33 runs off 16 balls. Rajesh Gupta added 32 runs to script NCM´s victory. Ghimire was adjudged man-of-the-match for his bowling.
Meanwhile, National College of Development Studies (NCDS) defeated Kantipur Dental College (KDC) by 14 runs in the last group B match, which was meaningless for semifinal equation.
NCDS elected to bat and put up 123/8 in 20 overs. In reply, KDC reached only 123/7 in the allotted 20 overs despite a 45-run contribution from Kushal Maharjan. Man-of-the-match Apar Bhattarai took three wickets to seal the match for NCDS.
