KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Some members of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Nepali Congress (NC) have demanded a probe into the death of the party's president Sushil Koirala, terming his death as "unnatural and suspicious".

In the first CWC meeting held at the party's headquarters at Sanepa after Koirala's death, the CWC members expressed anger over the "silence maintained by the government as well as the party over Koirala's death."

Speaking at the meeting, CWC member Suryaman Gurung said that the party could no longer maintain a silence over Koirala's mysterious and demanded that the government as well as the party start a probe into the death.

CWC members Bal Krishna Khad and Govinda Bhattarai echoed Gurung's concerns and said an investigation into Koirala's mysterious death was needed.

However, CWC member Shekhar Koirala opined that as per the tradition of the party's office-bearers' meeting taking decisions on crucial issues, this issue too will be decided by the office-bearers meeting.

NC's next CWC meeting will take place on Thursday.
