Koirala, who has long been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, was admitted to the hospital on Sunday after his condition deteriorated.
Doctors advised his family members to take him home after Koirala insisted on that. Earlier, doctors had said that Koirala could be taken home after his hemoglobin level reaches above 10 gram in his blood. Koirala´s health condition is now ´stable´, according to doctors involved in his treatment.
A team of four physicians -- Dr Man Bahadur KC, Dr Arjun Karki, Dr Jagadish Agrawal and Dr Arun Maskey -- was involved in his treatment.

Doctors said Koirala will still need to be given antibiotics for seven to 10 days. He will also need additional oxygen support for 16 to 24 hours a day. He was on oxygen support when he was taken out of the hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
A large number of well-wishers, party cadres and journalists had flocked to the hospital to witness the discharge.
