KATHMANDU, Sept 22: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and CPN-Maoist chairman Mohan Baidya discussed the contemporary political situation in the country in a meeting on Saturday.
It has been agreed in the meeting that took place at Koirala´s residence in Maharajgunj that the CPN-Maoist would be included in the meetings to be held among the parties for finding a way out of the present political stalemate, said CPN-Maoist spokesperson Pampha Bhusal who was present in the meeting.[break]
"In the meeting, we stated that the decisions made by the meeting of the four parties alone could not be termed as the national consensus. We urged for the participation of all the political parties in such meetings," she added.
Nepali Congress President Koirala said that the country was currently passing through a constitutional crisis and that there was no alternative to all the political parties becoming one to resolve the problem. He also informed the CPN-Maoist leader that he had put forth the proposal in the meeting of the four parties on Friday that the CPN-Maoist too should be included in the future meetings.
Koirala also urged CPN-Maoist to call an all-sides meeting for forging political consensus and said that he would attend such a meeting.
Present in the meeting were the Nepali Congress president Koirala, vice president Ram Chandra Paudel and spokesman Dilendra Prasad Badu and party chairman Baidya, general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa and spokesperson Bhusal on behalf the CPN-Maoist.
Meanwhile, CPN-Maoist spokesperson Pampha Bhusal has said that the decision taken by the ´syndicate´ of the three big parties and the Madhesi Front will push the country towards a disaster.
Speaking in a program organized by the Rupandehi/Nawalparasi-Kathmandu People´s Republican Liaison Forum here today, she said the political parties that did not want to empower the people dissolved the Constituent Assembly.
She warned that the ´syndicate´ that has been formed in the name of fresh election would spell disaster for the country.
Briefing about the talks held between the CPN-Maoist and the Nepali Congress this morning, she said in that meeting agreement has been reached regarding moving forward together by forging consensus with all political parties.
The CPN-Maoist spokesperson claimed that a way out of the present political and constitutional imbroglio could be possible only through consensus among all sides.
She accused the UCPN (Maoist) of exercising the power of the executive, judiciary and the legislature by putting personal interests ahead of the national interests and the welfare of the people.
