KATHMANDU, Feb 27: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is organizing the Kathmandu Educational Fair 2081. The fair is scheduled to be held on February 28 and 29 at the city hall on exhibition road.
The KMC has stated that it will organize a fair for the presentation and exhibition of the knowledge and skills learned by the students, as well as the impact it has had on them.
The KMC spokesperson Nabin Manandhar said that collaboration will be made with participating schools and organizations in the operation and management of the program. He said that the fair is expected to establish a milestone for the innovation and upgrading of school education, and provide dimensional support for the upcoming programs.
The KMC said that along with improving the quality of education, the fair will include programs directed towards educational, physical, mental, and character development of children, school infrastructure, and capacity development of teachers.
KMC to organize a month-long skill fair from May 1

The fair will be facilitated by the KMC’s City Planning Commission, Education Department, resource teachers, principals, and teachers. The students will showcase their latest learning activities in the exhibition and presentation. Under the Book Free Friday, 35 educational subgroups will display their interests and results through stalls. Teachers, students, parents, public representatives, and domestic and foreign guests are invited to the fair to observe.
Community schools will offer snacks at a price of Rs 30, available from 10 stalls, and all visitors will be able to purchase the snacks for the same price of Rs 30. Similarly, exhibitions reflecting Nepali language, original culture, costumes, and original musical instruments and singing performances will be included.
The Student Model Parliament practice, discussions on school education reform, exhibition on water quality testing in the Maruhiti region under the Book Free Friday Bawa Subgroup, a sample exhibition of over 1,000 sketches and sculptures reflecting student experiences, activities related to the teacher training college program and exchange of best practices for improving results, and the information center fair for educational activities of the KMC are the main attractions.
The fest is the first phase of the program, which consists of three phases. In the second phase, on the last Book Free Friday of the current academic session (23 Falgun 2081), partners and stakeholders are planning to observe the programs of nearby community schools.
In the third phase, a roundtable interaction will be organized to get feedback on the latest dimensions of educational activities. There are 272,263 students, including 61,329 students in 87 community schools and 211,934 in 524 institutional schools within the metropolis.
With the aim of developing, upgrading and enhancing the quality of school education, the KMC has now increased research-based investment. This investment is leading to improvements in early childhood development, infrastructure expansion, teacher capacity building, availability and usability of educational materials, use of information technology in teaching and learning, Book Free Friday (integrated learning, creative learning and skills in education), Teacher College Program, and result improvement programs.
The municipality's goal is to make theoretical educational programs practical and experiential, contributing to the production of timely and responsible citizens.
