Kin of deceased accept body after 3 days

RAUTAHAT, Dec 23: The family of Tabrej Alam received his body from Gaur hospital on Tuesday, following an agreement with the District Administration Office (DAO) Rautahat. Alam, a 15-year-old, was killed in police firing during demonstrations in Gaur on Sunday.

As per a four-point written agreement with the family and local leaders, the DAO agreed to declare the deceased a martyr, provide due compensation for the bereaved family and government employment to one member of the family, and also take action against any guilty policemen.

Following a postmortem and the agreement with the DAO, Alam’s body was handed over to his family, according to Chief District Officer (CDO) Narahari Baral.

The last rites will be performed at a local cemetery at Tejapaked VDC on Wednesday.

Gaur tense for fourth day, curfew in force

The local administration, which lifted the curfew in Gaur at 6 am on Tuesday, reimposed it after UDMF leaders and students staged demonstrations.

There was a heavy deployment of security personnel in the protest areas and no untoward incident has occurred so far.
