Out of the 57 welcome gates, KMC constructed six. Also the activity of cleaning garbage from the city is ongoing, said Gyanendra Karki, spokesperson for KMC.

Despite the active participation of MoFA, KMC and Department of Roads garbage management is still a problem in the Valley.

Apart from participating in the summit, some heads of BIMSTEC member states are scheduled to visit Lumbini. Sri Lankan President Maitipala Sirisena and Myanmar President Win Myuint will visit Lumbini.

“All the preparations for their visit have been completed,” said Saroj Bhattarai, an official at the Lumbini Development Trust.

Some delegates have expressed their wishes to visit the Pashupati Temple. “Their visits will be confirmed after the ministry informs us,” said Saroj Thapaliya, an information officer at the Pashupati Area Development Trust, adding, “We are working to welcome the delegates.”
