The Rai duo had brutally thrashed Budhathoki, a Sankhuwasabha-based correspondent of Annapurna Post and The Himalayan Times daily, on August 11 for writing about a case of domestic violence involving Bikash -- one of the two assailants.
Meanwhile, the Sankhuwasabha chapter of the FNJ on Tuesday warned of an agitation if the administration fails to arrest the assailants within 48 hours. “We issued an ultimatum as the police have not been able to arrest them even six days after the incident,” said FNJ Sankhuwasabha president Shyam Niraula.
Budhathoki is undergoing treatment at Nobel Medical College in Biratnagar. Doctors involved in his treatment say his condition is improving.
Meanwhile, Bikash, who has been absconding, has warned Sankhuwasabha district police of dire consequences if they tried to arrest him.
“He called up at our control room and said he has over 300 youths behind him,” a police officer said.
