JICA to construct damaged buildings of Bir Hospital and Maternity Hospital

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has agreed to construct the damaged buildings of Bir Hospital and Maternity Hospital caused by last April's earthquake. JICA has signed a memorandum in this regard with the government of Nepal.

Amid a program held in the Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Wednesday, Baikkuntha Aryal, joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Tsutomu Shimizu, chief representative of JICA, signed the agreement amid a program held at the ministry.

The two sides have also agreed to restore water transmission system of Chautara and construct a bridge in Barhakilo-Barpak road section.

As per the agreement, the Japanese government has provided a grant assistance of four billion Japanese yen (approximately Rs 3.5 billion) for the reconstruction projects.
