JHAPA, March 31: Host Jhapa XI thrashed Sangli FC of Maharashtra, India 9-0 in the inaugural match of the Rumpum Jhapa Gold Cup that kicked off at the Dom Lal Stadium in Birtamod on Thursday.

Karna Limbu scored five goals, while Narendra Limbu, Sumin Mainali, Sanjog Rai and Yogesh Gurung scored a goal each for Jhapa against the first-tier club of of Maharashtra.
Altogether 10 teams from Nepal and India are vying for the title of the tournament that carries highest prize money in the football outside the Valley. The winner will get Rs 600,000 and runner-up will bag Rs 300,000.
