Jazzmandu 2015 to start on November 4

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: The 13th edition of Surya Nepal Kathmandu International Jazz Festival, better known as Jazzmandu, will start on November 4. This year the festival kicks off with a free concert for children at Alliance Francaise in Tripureshwar.

Jazzmandu 2015 will feature artists from countries like France, Norway, Israel, Greece, Cuba, and Argentina. Some of the artists who will be performing at Jazzmandu are Yaite Ramos from Cuba, Julie Saury Trio from France, Kane Mathis and Banda Magda from the US, Kjetil Husebø from Norway, and Katamon Cherry from Israel. Nepali jazz band Cadenza Collective will also be performing at the festival along with other Nepali musicians.Along with these established musicians, the audience will also be treated to performances from fresh talents. The winning band picked from Jazz for the Next Generation, Jazzmandu's music competition for young musicians, will get to perform on the big stage. The winners will also have the opportunity to learn from international artists through master classes.

Performances will be held in different places of Kathmandu including House of Music in Thamel, Jazz Upstairs in Lazimpat, Gokarna Forest Resort, Hotel Summit in Kupondole, and Hotel Yak & Yeti at Durbar Marg.

Proceeds from the merchandise sales this year will go to charity, to assist the rebuilding efforts following the earthquakes in Nepal.
