POKHARA, June 17: Region No 7 (Janakpur) claimed its maiden national cricket title as it defeated departmental giant Armed Police Force (APF) Club by five runs in a thrilling final of the Prime Minister Cup Women's T20 National Cricket Tournament that concluded in Pokhara on Wednesday.

Region No 9 (Dhanagadhi) thrashed Region No 1 (Biratnagar) by seven wickets in the third place match played at the same ground on Wednesday.

Janakpur defended a meager target of 46 runs restricting APF for 40 runs in 17.5 overs at the Rangasala Ground in Pokhara.

Karuna Bhandari was top scorer for APF with eight runs from as many balls.

Despite, getting small target, start studded APF's batswomen failed to perform up to the mark against the disciplined bowling of Janakpur bowlers.

Nirmala Shahi (29 runs off 30 balls) and Sonu Khadka (21 runs off 30 runs) shared the highest 49 runs stand for the first wicket creating the base for Dhangadhi's victory.

Shabnam Rai and Apsari Begam pocketed one wicket each for Biratnagar, which put 71/5 in allotted 14 overs, batting first.

Apsari (26 off 31) and Sangeeta Rai (23 off 37) were the major run contributors for Biratnagar. They also shared a 48-run partnership for the second wicket.
