Janakpur defeated Region No 6 (Baitadi) by 26 runs in its third match of Group B at the Campachaur Ground in Chitwan to sail into the last four. Janakpur also became the first team to make it into the semifinal.Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Janakpur put 99/5 in allotted 20 overs after skipper Shova Ale scored 69 runs off 54 balls. Player-of-the-match Shova cracked two sixes and eight fours.
Anjali Chand picked up highest two wickets for Baitadi, which managed only 73/8 while chasing 100 runs target despite Dorpati Kunwar (20), Anjali (15) and Samjhana Khadka (13) scored in double figures.
Shanti Chaudhary of Janakpur claimed three wickets while Santoshi Chaudhary took two wickets to restrict their opponents for a low total.
Janakpur had defeated Region No 2 (Birgunj) and Bhairahawa in its two earlier matches. Baitadi has lost both of its matches so far.
In another match of Group B at the same ground, Bhairahawa recorded its first win after two defeats by thrashing Birgunj by 44 runs.
Player-of-the-match Saraswati Pun's four-wicket haul helped Bhairahawa to restrict Birgunj on 66 in 17.4 overs after the team posted 111 runs target.
No batswomen scored in double figures during Birgunj's run chase. Birgunj skipper Manisha Chaulagai and Smiriti Rai both scored eight runs each, which was the highest from the team.
Bhairahawa's Saraswati bagged four wickets giving away only 18 runs in four overs.
Earlier, winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Bhairahawa scored 110/8 with skipper Indu Berma's 29 and Saraswati's 24 runs.
Pushpa Aryal and Rojina Aryal took three wickets and two wickets respectively for Birgunj.
The win kept Bhairahawa's slim chance of advancing into the last four alive.
Meanwhile, Kathmandu, which beat co-host Pokhara by nine wickets in its first match of Group A on Thursday, recorded a 32-run win over Region No 1 (Biratnagar) at the Rangashala Stadium in Pokhara.
Opting to bat first, Kathmandu scored 118/9 as player-of-the-match Sarada Wagle contributed important 36 runs and Geeta Chudal remained not out on 21 runs.
Usha Chapagain of Biratnagar claimed highest three wickets and Sangita Rai pocketed two wickets.
In reply, Biratanar managed only 86 runs in 18.3 overs as Sangita became the only batswoman to score in double digits with her 13 runs.
Sandhya Upreti took three wickets and Ashmina Karmacharya picked up two wickets to restrict Biratnagar.
Likewise, after winning two consecutive matches in Group A, departmental side APF Club shared a point with Pokhara after the match was called off due to bad ground condition.
With the results APF leads the table with five points and Kathmandu lies second with four points. Nepalgunj is third with two points and Pokhara has one point. Biratnagar is yet to collect points.
