The recently drafted code of conduct for ISPs calls for the service to be transparent so that the customers are not cheated as the operators were not providing the proper information currently. Along with the speed, the authority has also asked ISPs to ensure cyber cafes to publish the tariff.[break]
Kailash Prasad Neupane, spokesperson of the authority said, "We have already communicated with ISPs to strictly follow the newly drafted code of conduct and in case of any violation the authority will take legal action against the operator."
As per the new provision, cyber cafes and Public Call Office (PCO) will have to compulsorily maintain a log book of their users. ISPs along with cyber cafes will have to provide the information about the users, used bandwidth, time, and location if asked by security agency. "The new provision will help minimize criminal activities through internet," he said.
NTA with feedbacks from Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) had drafted a new code of conduct to curb possible criminal activities like ´threat mails´ and other illegal activities through internet.
With the objective to make the transaction transparent, the authority has asked ISPs and cyber cafes to issue bills for every service and hand over the cash receipt to the customers. Not just that, the new provision also asks the service providers to inform the authority in advance about the change in the officelocation.
