Talking to a delegation from the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) at his parliamentary party office at Singha Durbar Monday, Dahal also urged the public to submit their dissenting voices to the Constituent Assembly (CA) through their respective parties and other channels."Proposed delineations could be changed until such time as the new constitution is promulgated through the CA. Remaining issues could be incorporated and the draft could be revised," Dahal said. "I appeal to all the public to abstain from any over-excitement and avoid any fallacies."
Stating that people's expressions of dissent towards the proposed delineation of provinces are only natural, Dahal assured that the parties would address the serious concerns of the people and revise the draft of the new statute. Dahal cautioned the public against falling prey to rumors spread by regressive forces that are out to thwart federalism.
The FNJ delegation had urged the UCPN (Maoist) chairman to revise the constitution draft, correcting the provisions restricting press freedom. In response, Dahal expressed his commitment to revising the draft in line with suggestions received from various stakeholders.
NC Veep Paudel assures incorporation of suggestions on delineation of provinces
Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel has urged all those expressing dissent over the proposed delineation of federal provinces to exercise restraint.
Issuing an appeal on Monday in the wake of violent protests in various parts of the country over the proposed delineation of federal provinces, Paudel said the delineations are being floated to the public for discussions and are in no way final. He urged the agitating people to ensure that wrong elements are not taking advantage of their protests to promote their own vested interests.
