16 handed over to Nepal Police
How Jhapa residents taught a big lesson to the SSB
ITAHARI, Dec 8: Indian Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Tuesday released 36 Nepalis after detaining them for 16 hours. SSB also handed over 16 others to Nepal Police.
At 8 pm on Monday SSB personnel had arrested 52 Nepalis from Birpur of Supaul district near Nepal-India border while they were for their employment in India.
“The 36 Nepalis arrested were released after they were found not involved in any illegal activities,” said DSP Chiranjivi Koirala quoting the SSB.
However, the SSB handed over 16 Nepalis -- three adults, eight girl children and five boys -- to Nepal police out of suspiciousness, according to DSP Koirala.
“Among them, 13 were below 18 years old and three were arrested after suspicion,” DSP Koirala said. Five of the arrested were from Udayapur district, nine from Saptari and two were from Dolkha.
According to DSP Koirala, the police investigation into them is under way.
