The Lalitpur audition came to a close with nine chosen candidates from different colleges who will go to the grand finale. The nine candidates are Ashma Aryal, Kusum Bhatta, Lata Bhattarai, Shania Joshi, Pavitra Bhattarai, Prapti Khadka, Jujuna Dahal, Suresh Nepal, and Sushmita Karki.Ashma, who is a visually impaired student of Oxbridge International Higher Secondary School, sees potential in her elocution skills.
The Chankhe team has already selected seven young people from the western audition that was held a week ago.
The grand finale will be held in Kathmandu on September 19 where the top three will receive Rs 100,000, Rs 50,000, and Rs 25,000.
According to Sushil Budathoki, the marketing consultant for the film, this campaign is not a onetime event but will continue each year. He added that just like Miss Nepal is an annual pageant, Public Speaker Nepal will also be held every year, thus giving platform to talented young people.
Film producer Santosh Sen also stated that he will produce a film each year and will continue the contest.
'Chankhe Shankhe Pankhe', slated to release on September 25, is a film based on modern nationalism. It has been directed by Sudarshan Thapa, who has earlier directed acclaimed films like 'Mero Euta Sathi Chha' and 'Dhanda'.
