KATHMANDU, March 10: “Bike is my shadow and stunting is my passion,” says 19-year-old Saurab Karki from Saipal Academy while he talks to Republica revealing his secrets and difficulties.

How did your dream about biking come into reality?

I started riding a bike since the eighth grade. When I got my license, I started doing stunts on my own following others instructions. I joined a stunt group called ‘Flo Riderz’, through which we do stunts, social work and bike tours.[break]

Do your college and family support you?

Teachers are very encouraging. My college mates also join me and we’re united due to a common hobby that we share.

Our peers think we’re really cool and daring. My family doesn’t support me because they are scared of my hobby. I often lie to them while sneaking out to practice stunts.

Are you considering a career in bike stunting?

Although I’ll not give up my passion, I can’t take it up as a profession in Nepal. Here, our profession isn’t respected and people like us are perceived jobless or gangsters.

What will you cherish the most about your college life?

Our friendly teachers and my friends’ circle.

What are your future plans?

I’ll complete my A-Levels this year and will take up some management subjects in Australia.
