Those suspended under suspicion of plotting the incident are prison chief jailer Dhan Bahadur Chand, Sub-inspector Bhim Bahadur Bam and constables Krishna Bahadur Mehta, Sonu BK, Suresh Singh Dhami and Rabindra Bahadur Shahi. The remaining one is an office assistant whose name has not yet been disclosed.
Meanwhile, police also arrested another absconding prisoner, Prakash Chand. With this, the number of prisoners arrested after the jail break has reached four. According to District Police Office, Chand was arrested from Bhimdutta Municipality-7, Bramhadev.
Thriteen prisoners on Monday night had escaped from the prison after overpowering a female police guard. They escaped with two pistols and .303 rifle. Police had shortly arrested three of the fleeing prisoners, including the alleged mastermind, Kamal Chaudhary.
Police has intensified search for the absconding prisoners with over 250 police personnel deployed in the suspected southern areas of the district including Gaddachowki and Bramhadev. Check points have been posted in several areas.
Police said the investigative panel formed by the Home Ministry is set to arrive in Mahendranagar on Wednesday afternoon. The Ministry had formed the three member panel led by joint-secretary Shankar Koirala on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, two separate bombs were found near Kanchanpur District Prison and District Forest Office on Wednesday morning. A disposal team from Nepal Army is preparing to diffuse the bombs that seem to have been made with iron pieces wrapped in a plastic bag. The local administration has tightened security arrangements after the bombs were discovered near the prison.
