KATHMANDU, March 29: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has vowed to take legal action against the monarchist group responsible for the attack and killings. Speaking to journalists at the CPN (Unified Socialist) central office in Aloknagar on Saturday, he pledged to investigate and prosecute those responsible for the loss of lives and property.

Monarchists staged a protest in Tinkune on Friday, which led to the deaths of two people and damage to both public and private property. During his visit to Aloknagar for inspection and monitoring, Minister Lekhak condemned the violence, stating that it had no connection to political philosophy, ideals, principles, beliefs, or awareness.

Home Minister Lekhak stated, "The incidents that occurred yesterday under the guise of protests have no connection to political philosophy, ideals, principles, beliefs, or awareness. These are highly criminal acts. The perpetrators carried out these events in a brutal and inhuman manner. They even pre-announced attacks on specific locations. Despite knowing that people were inside, they set fire to the buildings."

He continued, "A journalist lost his life, and another person also died. The police had to use force to protect civilians and I deeply regret this. I wish for the injured to recover quickly, and the government will provide necessary medical treatment. Yesterday's brutality included attacks on media houses, targeted assaults on the homes and offices of leaders from pro-republican political parties, destruction of private and government property and attacks on shopping complexes. The government will investigate these incidents and take appropriate action as per the existing laws.”

Home Minister Lekhak said on Friday that monarchists carried out attacks on media houses, targeted the homes and party offices of pro-republican political party leaders, destroyed private and government property, and attacked shopping complexes.
