HELAMBU, Feb 5: Minister for Home Affairs Balkrishna Khand has inaugurated a Bailey bridge constructed over the Melamchi River.
The flood-fed Melamchi River had swept away the bridge at Chanaute Bazaar last year. Nepal Army (NA) recently constructed the bridge connecting Helambu rural municipality-2 and 7.

It may be noted that the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management National Council had handed over the responsibility of the bridge construction to the Nepal Army on October 21. The bridge connects Chanaute and Bhirkharka.
The bridge constructed in the span of nine weeks was handed over to the Department of Roads on Saturday. The bridge with 48.77 meter length and 4.20 meter breadth has a bearing capacity of 24 tons. The bridge makes it easier for locals to travel to other places including Kathmandu for most-essential goods and services.
