KATHMANDU, July 13: Spokesman of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Agni Prasad Sapkota, has said the High Level Political Committee (HLPC) would take initiatives to bring on board political parties that were opposing the Constituent Assembly (CA) election process holding talks with them.

Talking to journalists at the regular ´spokesperson-journalists meeting´ at the party headquarters, Paris Danda, Koteshwor on Saturday, he said the HLPC would hold talks with the poll opposing parties so that all political parties could participate in the CA election. He also expressed hope that the talks would yield a positive way out to the current political impasse. [break]

UCPN (Maoist) Spokesman Sapkota claimed that to protest the election process in the current political scenario would amount to pushing the nation towards regression and stressed that the election was inevitable to give political outlet to the nation.

He refuted rumors the election would not be held in November 19, saying, "This government will not have any meaning if it fails to hold election in November. The Chairman of Interim Election Council will have no moral rights to stay in power any longer if he fails to carry out the task of holding the elections."

The major political parties are committed to the election and it would be futile just to protest the election by a few political parties; however, the HLPC and the Council of Ministers could be reconstructed for consensus. But, it was not possible to have any changes in the 11-point political agreement and the 25-point ordinance issued by the President for removing obstacles in the constitution that stood in the way of conducting the election.

In a different context, he said the UCPN (Maoist)´s extended meeting called for July 18 would have important works for the development of the organizational principle, claiming that the dispute that appeared in the party was not a big issue in fact.

There are no differences of opinion in the political direction and line passed by the General Convention of the party in Hetauda, Sapkota said. He stressed on the need for a new method to run the communist party for the traditional one alone could not function anymore. He added that the method will be formulated on the basis of the principle of "people´s centrality."

Leader Sapkota stressed that the government should have to bring full budget focusing the election programmes and programmes that can boost up the economic health of the nation.
