A press conference to announce the ceremony was held at the Bakery Café Sundhara on Monday. Speaking at the event, RJ and Program Manager at Hits FM Mandira Dhungel said, “The award ceremony is a common ground for the celebration of Nepali music for the makers and lovers of music.” [break]
The award ceremony which began with only seven categories in 1997 has been adding categories throughout the years reaching a total of twenty categories this year, including the Life Time Achievement Award.
“There are new genres [in music that are ]being explored, we try and include as much as we can,” said Arjun Ghimire, RJ at the music station.
Dibya Subba & The Blue Acids, 1974 AD, Rajesh Payal Rai, Nhyoo Bajracharya are a artists who will be performing artists at the event.

The program will be broadcast live from the air waves of Hits FM 91.2, Nepal Television; the video feed of the event will be streamed live via hitsfm.com.np and Nepalnews.com.
For the best New Artist category, Kristina Allen, Leezum Bhutia, Meena Singh, Santosh Lama and Seema Sangraula have been nominated. Kristina Allen is the youngest singer, till date, to be nominated in two categories.
Anand Adhikari’s Eka Deshma, Bhupal Rai’s Sustari Jharchhu, Kali Prasad Rijal’s Nadi Tarera, Raman Ghimire’s Hansi Hansi and SP Koirala’s Parale Jhupro are the selections for the Song of the Year Category.
1974 AD lead the nomination list this year with six nominations including the Record of the Year while Sangeeta Rana Pradhan’s Hansi Hansi up for four categories and Nepathya following with equal number of nominations.
