KATHMANDU, Dec 1: Health and Population Minister Dr Sudha Gautam has received a memorandum from the Pharmaceuticals Dealers Association of Nepal (PDAN), highlighting the challenges faced by medicine traders.
A delegation led by PDAN President Ganesh Nepal submitted the memorandum during a meeting at the ministry.
Sticking with New Year’s resolution
Minister Gautam said she is aware of the issues recently raised by pharmaceutical entrepreneurs and assured that their concerns would be addressed. She added that the matters had already been discussed within the ministry.
“We believe in cooperation and coordination. I have taken the concerns raised by the wholesalers positively, and the process is moving towards resolving the problems,” she said.
The PDAN’s memorandum requested the suspension of Sub-section 5 under Section 11 of the Drugs Act, 2035. It also called for the urgent implementation of legal and technical frameworks to make the license renewal process digital, transparent, swift, and business-friendly, thereby reducing administrative delays and systemic shortcomings.
Additionally, the association urged a review of Sub-section 3 of Section 11 concerning doubled fees and time limits.
