A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday decided to urge the agitating parties that have been creating obstructions at Nepal-India border points to call off their protests and sit for talks.Emerging from the prime minister's office after the cabinet meeting, Minister for Law and Justice Agni Kharel, who is government spokesman, said that the government will send formal invitations to the agitating Madhes-based parties for talks.
He also said that the cabinet meeting also decided to form a dialogue committee to hold talks with the Madhes-based parties that have been staging protests in Tarai for over two months now. "But who will be in the dialogue committee has yet to be decided. Prime Minister Oli will consult with other political parties and form a dialogue committee to represent the government," said he.
Later in the day, speaking in parliament, Prime Minister Oli said the government will continuously work to bring all the political parties that are not part of the government on board and create a favorable environment for effective implementation of the new constitution. "My other priority will be to take political parties outside the [erstwhile] constituent assembly and parliament into confidence."
Meanwhile, the cabinet also appointed Indra Bhandari as personal aide and Pramod Dahal as press advisor to the prime minister.
