Govt to provide relief to the conflict disappeared as equal to the deceased: Minister Acharya

POKHARA, June 7: Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, and Law and Justice Narahari Acharya has said the government would provide relief to the families of those who disappeared in the decade-long conflict as equal to that received by the families of the deceased.Speaking at an interaction organized by Local Peace Committee in Kaski district on Sunday, Minister Acharya said the government is for distributing the remaining amount of the money announced to be paid to the conflict-victims' family within the current fiscal year.

The conflict victims who received Rs 300,000 earlier would get the remaining Rs 200,000 within this fiscal year, said Minister Acharya. He suggested the concerned to submit their application before the District Administration Office through the local Peace Committees.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and Commission on Disappeared Persons were formed to settle all the conflict-era cases. The government would support the families of people who disappeared in the insurgency as per the recommendations of the two commissions.

During the programme, Chief District Officer Krishna Bahadur Raut said of total 60 conflict affected people in the district, 49 of them have contacted the DAO claiming relief while 11 others are yet to come to the Office to claim the relief. RSS
