KATHMANDU, May 29: The government has announced plans to introduce a new bill aimed at overhauling Nepal’s visa and immigration system to make it more investment-friendly and efficient.
Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle made the announcement while presenting the national budget for fiscal year 2026/27 on Friday, stating that the existing visa and immigration framework will be restructured to align with current economic and administrative needs.
Revised interest rate corridor system introduced
He said the proposed reforms are intended to facilitate foreign investment, business activity, and tourism by simplifying immigration procedures and improving overall governance of cross-border mobility.
Officials said the move is part of broader efforts to improve the investment climate and streamline administrative processes for international visitors and investors.
