KATHMANDU, March 3: The government on Wednesday objected the United Nations Mission in Nepal’s (UNMIN) refusal to provide details about the former disqualified Maoist combatants who were discharged recently.

Issuing a press statement, the government has said that it is in favor of releasing the salary and allowance to the authentic Maoist combatants residing in the different UNMIN-monitored camps. [break]

However, it was not legal and becoming to go on releasing the salary and allowances to the Maoist combatants when it lacks authentic details, the government said.

The UNMIN had refused to provide details of the former disqualified Maoist combatants who were discharge recently by issuing a press statement on February 25.

The government enjoys the right to get the details of the Maoist combatants residing in different camps, the statement said.

“It is also not certain that all the combatants verified by the UNMIN are still residing in the camps,” the statement added.
